Grandmother

GRANDMOTHER
The poem “Grandmother” is written by an American-Indian poet
and Novelist Ray Young Bear. This is the nostalgic poem in which the persona draws a picture of his grandmother in a pictorial way.
In the poem the poet has described the character of his grandmother which is the great source of love and inspire. If the poet saw his grandmother from a mile away, he would quickly know that she was his grandmother because she used to wear purple scarf and take plastic shopping bag. Her hands were warm and damp. If she comes near, he would know that she was his grandmother because of her smell which was like the smell from the wet roots. Her voice was like the sound coming from the rocks which used to flow inside the poet.
Hence, the poem is about the past remembrance of the grandmother.
