THE LAMENTATION OF THE OLD PENSIONER

THE LAMENTATION OF THE OLD PENSIONER
The poem “The Lamentation of the Old Pensioner” is written by a well known remarkable Irish poet and Dramatist Yeast, William. In this poem, the poet has presented his remembrance of his young life which becomes more painful at present.
In the poem, the poet has expressed his ideas about the interesting and joyful of his early life. In his young life his chair used to be near the fire and the social phenomenon used to be concerned with him before the time changed his life into an old man. In the second stanza, the poet is describing about the conspiracy of the young people at human tyranny which is because of the time. In the last stanza, the poet is describing about his affairs with the beauties. Along with that he has compared his life with a broken tree. The most interesting matter in this stanza is his emotional regret towards the time. “I spit into the face of time” indicates that actually he is totally dissatisfied with his old age.
